  1 ) POLICE 

  Police is a state subject under the constitution and therefore Police in India is maintained and controlled by the states. All Senior police posts 

In various states are included in the Indian Police Service (IPS)cadres to which recruitment is made on all India basis. 

  2 ) CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE (CRPF):

  Central reserve Police force was raised in 1939

  It is headed by Director general with its headquarters at Delhi. It's duties include assisting the state/union territory police forces in maintenance of law and order and arranging relief at time of natural calamities .

     3 )NATIONAL SECURITY GUARD (NSG).

  A Special force has been raised to meet the emergent threats of extremism and terrorism includes hijacking. The force is deployed on special missions of emergent nature. 

  4 ) BORDER SECURITY FORCE (BSF)

  The Border Security force was raised in 1965

  Is charged with the task of maintaining permanent vigilance on India's international borders. It's functions are to promote a sense of security  among the people living in the border area's to prevent trans border crimes unauthorised into or exit from the territory of India. 

  5 ) ASSAM RIFLES 

  Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in the country. the force has its headquarters at SHILLONG .it has seven range headquarters.   The Assam Rifles is charged with responsiblity of maintaining security and vigilance on India's northeastern border as ArunanchalPradesh,Manipur,Mizoram andNagaland.

   6 )INDO_TIBETAN BORDER POLICE (ITBP):

  The force personnel are deployed at altitude ringing 9000 to  18000 above sea level guarding approximately 1221km of Indo_Tibet border extends from Karakoram pass in Ladakh to Lipulekh. 

  7 ) CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL SECURITY FORCE (CISF):.the CISF has been raised and deployed in public sector under taking to prevent theft,damage and terrorist threats to their installations and for manning their security. 

8 ) BUREAU OF POLICE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (BPRD):it formed for promoting a speedy and systematic study of Police problems in changing society,bring about rapid application of science and technology in the country. 

  9 ) INSTITUTE OF CRIMINOLOGY AND FORENSIC SCIENCE. (ICFS):The objective of imparting in service training to functioners of the criminal and forensic science. 

  10) NATIONAL CRIME RECORDS BUREAU (NCRB):  the main object of bureau includes functions as repossession of information on interstate and International criminal.
